Stephen's Testimony

Stephen's testimony in Acts 7 is a great recap of Abraham, Moses, etc., from the Old Testament. There are other recaps found in Nehemiah 8-9 and Psalms 78.

Melchisdedec

Hebrews 7:1-3 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all: first being by interpretation king of righteousness, and after that also king of Salem, which is, King of peace; Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

The Melchisedec from Hebrews is the same Melchizedek from Genesis 14:18-20

Just "Talk" To Him

God is your Father. He is your Creator and Savior, through Jesus Christ. We are His children for whom He has suffered through and died for in order for us to have the best opportunities for the eternity. He loves us. Talk to Him as you would the closest love in your life. He already knows your heart, so let him hear from you and not the vain words of another. God the Heart Knower

Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Sharing God's Word

Colossians 4:5-6 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

We should speak to unbelievers and young students of God's Word with respect and with savor. Being salty is being full of life and excitement. Being droll and without salt is never appealing to anyone. We shouldn't pile on more than someone can handle. This is good advice for everything in life, not the least of which is teaching God's Word. II Corinthians 2:5-7  /  I Corinthians 2:13

It is important to know what level for which the person you are speaking with is on, and be able to teach or discuss on that level. Paul was skilled at being able to teach at all three levels at one time and without overwhelming anyone. Most churches only teach at the most basic "milk" level. Growing past just the milk of salvation is necessary to grow in God's Word and to do what He has for you to do.  I Corinthians 3  /  Romans 12:6

I Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekenss and fear:

Rather, humbleness and reverence.... I Peter 4:11

The Greatest Commandments

Jesus answering a scripture lawyer as to which is the great commandment of the law:

Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said unto him, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

It would be impossible to break any of the other commandments, if those two are kept...making them the greatest commandments.

The Wrong Church

Discern and do not stay in a Church with whom God would not be pleased in their teachings and doings. The Churches of Revelation / Key of David  II John 1:10-11

Luke 16:15 And He said unto them, "Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

Beyond simply misrepresenting God's Word through false teachings and traditions of men, the churches with whom God is displeased are the same ones who outwardly hold a 'holier than thou' attitude but inwardly are not even close. 

Matthew 23:3; 24-28 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Mark 7:9 And He said unto them, "Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Matthew 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch."
